How it works: dropping the playback rate the ordinary way drags the pitch down with it, which is useless for learning anything by ear. This pulls the two apart, so half speed stays in the same key and a capo change stays at the same tempo. Slowing a record smears the transients slightly and shifting a long way starts to sound synthetic, which is the honest cost of doing it in real time \u2014 between about sixty and eighty percent it is close to transparent, and that is the range you actually want for working something out. Pulling the vocal down subtracts one side of the stereo image from the other, so anything sitting dead center cancels. Lead vocals usually are. Bass and kick often are too, so expect the bottom end to thin out. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored.
