What it looks for, and what it will miss
It reads the text in the picture and flags names, ID and reference numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, card numbers, social security numbers, licence and passport numbers, street addresses, dates of birth, vehicle plates and VINs, IP and hardware addresses, passwords, API keys and access tokens.
It reads QR codes and shows you what is inside them, because on a ticket or a pass the code usually holds the same number printed beside it.
It looks for faces and covers them. This needs a small download the first time and it is best effort, not proof. Check the picture yourself.
Light text on a dark background is read by inverting the picture first, since recognition is trained on dark text over a light page. If a first reading comes back thin, a second is tried the other way round, and you can see both.
It will miss things. Handwriting, unusual layouts, low-resolution text, barcodes, a reflection in a window, a landmark through the blinds. Every finding is listed, and so is the raw text it managed to read, so you can tell the difference between finding nothing and reading nothing.

Blacking out here is permanent. The covered pixels are replaced, not blurred and not hidden under a layer, and the saved copy is rebuilt from scratch so the original camera and location data does not travel with it.

How it works: the picture is read in the page using the same text recognition that powers a scanner, then every word it finds is checked against the shapes that personal and secret information takes. A card number has to pass the checksum a real card passes. A social security number cannot start with the digits real ones never start with. A password only counts if what follows the label looks like an actual password rather than a placeholder. That is why the list below tends to be short and worth reading, instead of a hundred guesses. When you save, the covered areas are painted over the picture itself and the file is written fresh, so nothing survives underneath and no camera or location data comes along. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing here is sent anywhere.
