How this works: the PDF is opened and rewritten right here in your browser, so contracts, leases and medical forms never travel to anyone's server. Your signature is drawn onto the page as an image, which is what the paid services do too. Worth knowing: this produces a visible signature, not a cryptographic digital certificate. That's fine for the overwhelming majority of everyday paperwork, but a few legal and financial processes specifically require a certified digital signature — if a form says so explicitly, it needs a certificate authority rather than any image-based tool.
