How it should look
How it works: a photo of a page comes out grey and unevenly lit, with one corner usually in shadow. Clean black and white measures the brightness around every single pixel rather than picking one cutoff for the whole image, which is why a shadowed corner comes out white instead of a grey smear. Brightened keeps the greys, so use it for photographs, stamps or anything coloured you want to survive. For the sharpest result, shoot straight down in even light and fill the frame with the page — that beats a higher-resolution photo taken at an angle every time. Everything is processed in this tab and the PDF is built here too, so payslips and medical letters never leave your machine.
