This browser cannot read text aloud. Speech support is missing or switched off. Firefox on Linux usually needs the speech-dispatcher package installed. Chrome, Edge and Safari all work as they come.

How it works: this uses the voices already installed on your device, so the list you get depends on your machine — Windows and Mac ship several, Linux usually needs speech-dispatcher first. Long text is broken into sentences and queued one at a time, which keeps the highlight in step and works around a Chrome quirk where a single long passage stops speaking after about fifteen seconds. Changing speed mid-read restarts the current sentence at the new pace. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is recorded.
